Ajay Lalu, Managing Director of Black Lite Consulting was interviewed on CNBC Africa and shares his thoughts on the progress that Women’s’ Empowerment Groups have made on the eve of Women’s Development Bank (“WDB”) celebrating their 25th year anniversary.

The Women’s Development Bank, a women-led black empowerment group focused mainly on lifting rural women out of poverty, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. Much has changed in the BEE landscape since WDB was founded, and corporate interest in BEE deals has been waning, particularly since the global financial crisis in 2008/09 which left a number of transactions going under water. Joining CNBC Africa to discuss the current issues and the prospects for BEE groups are Ajay Lalu, Managing Director of Black Lite Consulting, and Andile Ntingi, CEO of GetBiz.
